Feilo Sylvania Teams Up With Gooee

gooeeGlobal lighting manufacturer, Feilo Sylvania has been presented with the first development kit from its partner and IoT lighting ecosystem specialist, Gooee.

On the first morning of LuxLive, ExCel London, 23-24 November 2016, Gooee handed over its first development kit to Feilo Sylvania ready to be integrated into its luminaires.

Feilo Sylvania is working together with Gooee to develop their ‘full-stack’ operating platform which connects the lighting system to the Internet of Things (IoT). This eco-system consists of innovative components operating both on-premise and in the cloud that work together to enable a secure and scalable IoT platform.

Bastiaan de Groot, Global Director Strategy & New Business Development at Feilo Sylvania, comments, “Our clients are no longer just looking at luminaires for their output and efficiency, they are seeing the potential of the data the luminaires can collect. By connecting our luminaires to the IoT we can provide our customers with valuable occupancy data, which is why we are delighted to be partnering with Gooee. We are keen to work with partners that can offer a different skill set to us and increase the interoperability of our luminaires. The lighting industry is entering a new phase and, with our partnerships, we are positioning ourselves are the forefront of the revolution. Gooee is leading the way in IoT solutions and we are delighted to be partnering with the company.”

Simon Coombes, CTO and Co-Founder of Gooee, says the development kits are yet another stage in realising IoT lighting for all: “The necessity for lighting within most business applications is obvious, and the IoT can capitalise on this to save money in all aspects of a building’s efficiency,” he says. “With the development kits now in the OEMs hand, it won’t be long before the market can realise its true potential.”

The benefit of a connected system is it can provide end-users with vital data about the operation of their building, be it a commercial or retail environment. Building owners can see unoccupied areas and adjust building services such as heating and air conditioning accordingly or update cleaning rotas. In effect, the value of the occupancy data that can be collected is nearly 12 times more valuable than that of installing the most energy efficient lighting. In connecting to the Gooee Cloud and integrating its smart-hardware, Feilo Sylvania can drive down end-user’s costs with enhanced lighting control, complete energy management services, analytics that highlight inefficiencies, and direct marketing through beacon management.
