The new Acrilux Polaris refractor series utilise superlative refractor design and advanced moulding techniques to produce an efficient aesthetic product to control the output of HID elliptical lamps. The main prismatic skirt can be used either on its own, with a clear lens or spread lens.
The key feature of the product is the individually designed prismatic horizontal surfaces on both the inside and outside of the component. These surfaces act in concert to direct the light emitted from the lamp in the required direction. The angle of each surface and the relative position of the surfaces on the inside and outside are optimised to achieve peak efficiency. The inside and outside prism faces break up the image of the lamp and present an even and pleasing appearance to the refractor as well as controlling glare to the observer. The addition of the custom designed spread lens further adds to the appearance of the product and increases the width of the distribution. In areas where glass containment is a priority, such as food preparation and processing, the refractor can be used with a clear lens.
Precise production control enables the moulded part to be produced with very small radii at the edge of each prism. The knife-edge angle on each individual prism eliminates spill light and ensures maximum controlled light output.
