Lighting control specialist Multiload Technology has supplied a full range of innovative lighting control equipment for a beautiful barn conversion in Buerton on the Staffordshire and Cheshire border.
Designing the lighting for the property was the job of Phil Gardner, head of design at Greyblue Lighting Design. “The brief was to create an atmosphere that would turn a house into a home, to embed well thought out modern ideas to save energy and add value without using complex technology. Quality sound equipment was to be installed and all dimmed lights needed to be perfectly quiet,” said Gardner.
Gardner specified Multiload Technology’s innovative range of lighting controls as the solution best suited to meeting all the criteria, including Voltmaster transformers with integrated dimming that allows for perfectly quiet dimming of lights.
“We designed innovative, flowing plaster shapes into the ceiling to house the lights and placed Multiload’s Voltmaster Transformers outside of the room. This removed the need to ever access the ceiling and risk messing with the organic shapes,” said Gardner. “The added benefit of remote equipment is eliminating noise and the fear of electronic interference with high specification sound equipment.”
Multiload Technology’s MoodMaker, a simple, maintenance-free control system, was chosen to combine lights for modern and versatile atmospheres, while the controls also made for simple but sophisticated dimming, with the ability to dim lights from any of three places in one room. Recently shortlisted for the 2012 Lighting Design Awards, MoodMaker is a truly innovative solution that represents a real step forward in the design of lighting control systems. It boasts enhanced levels of electronic intelligence based on the latest developments in analogue techniques, to produce a product which is supremely user friendly.
MoodMaker, which has already proved a huge success in applications such as the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, Kings Cross, London, and the recently refurbished St Patrick’s Catholic Church in London’s Soho, is now increasingly popular with home owners.
Lynn Hudson, owner of the barn conversion, is thrilled with the results: “We were delighted when we came to the house the first evening as it was getting dark. We walked through the rooms turning the lights on and all we could say was wow! We couldn’t believe the effect it had. The way it lit up the rooms and the warmth and cosiness it created was absolutely great. It was worth every penny.”
