Middlesbrough Borough Council are using the Urbis Lighting Senso LED luminaire for a ME class scheme near the Riverside Stadium Football Ground.
The schemes uses LED technology and is testament to the Senso's high quality photometric performance and flexibility.
Rob Warner, Street Lighting Engineer for Middlesbrough Borough Council, commented, "we needed to upgrade the lighting around the stadium to white light, mainly to improve the CCTV images. So, I decided to kill two birds with one stone and trial Urbis' Senso LED luminaire, as it offered an effective white light solution and the opportunity to reduce our energy consumption."
In total, we supplied 32 of our Senso 2s along a busy ME3b carriageway and a CE2 roundabout. The units are mounted at 10m and are each fitted with 96 cool white LEDs. The new lighting provides a safer night time environment for pedestrians and drivers and also delivers much clearer CCTV images.
As our Senso can be fitted with up to 96 LEDs and the new OrientoFlex® system, it allows us to have a high degree of control over the direction and intensity of the lighting. This flexibility makes it a viable option for ME class schemes.
Rob stated, "we regularly use Urbis, as they offer high quality products, backed up by an excellent after sales service. The scheme was completed in early 2011 and so far has met all our expectations. Using the Sensos should also reduce our energy consumption by approximately 30%."
