CONUS is a new, contemporary-styled post-top luminaire from Holophane, available with a choice of LED or high intensity discharge (HID) light sources. Designed to complement any urban environment, during the day or night, CONUS incorporates a cylindrical lens and inverted conical shape which follows the smooth lines of modern conical columns.
To offer designers maximum flexibility, CONUS provides a choice of symmetrical, asymmetrical or long and narrow distribution with all light sources. Consequently, CONUS creates the opportunity to use a range of light sources and light distributions within a project while maintaining a consistent visual appearance.
Light source options include a 4,000 lumen LED package with a lamp life of 66,000 hours, 35-100W ceramic metal halide or 45-90W Cosmopolis. Light sources are controlled using LED drivers or electronic control gear with the option of stepped dimming with Cosmopolis.
Optical control uses an internal anodised aluminium reflector for HID and an extruded aluminium heat sink that incorporates the LED assembly. In the LED version, dedicated individual lenses are housed within a the clear cylindrical polycarbonate lens.
Low cost of ownership is also integral to the design of CONUS with a number of features to facilitate maintenance, including tool-free access to lamp assembly and gear/driver compartments. The heat sink in LED versions ensures efficient thermal control, while electronic control gear is located in the coolest part of the luminaire to extend ballast life.
